Last Days of the Presidency
No I am not talking about Obama. I am talking about me. Tonight I step down as President of Rainmakers. It has been an amazing three years, in which I have met incredible people, learned and grown so much, and seen my life and business move in directions I would never have anticipated. And so, as I get ready for my last speech as President, I have really struggled with what I want to talk about. In the last three years, I have given more then 100 speeches, so what is left to say? After weeks of planning, I have decided to keep it simple, and focus on one theme –...

Tonight, I saw a great example of a company using Twitter to put a personal face on their brand. I had a flat tire, and my wonderful husband (@aballstudio for those of you who follow Twitter) took the tire to Discount Tire to get it repaired or replaced. Quoting Thomas Kempis, he said: The object of education isn’t knowledge; it’s action. That sums it up. While education for the sole purpose of expanding your knowledge is valuable, Rainmakers is about ACTION. We are...

I was out on an inspiration walk* the other day and noticed the first signs of spring. There amoung the clusters of dead leaves were the first signs of new growth. I realized just as spring follows winter, down cycles in the economy are followed by upswings. As farmers have done for years I will be planting this month. Kicking up my marketing activity just a notch, a little more networking and direct mail, a few experiments with my email newsletter. All of this work is designed to insure my crops are planted when summer comes. And there are signs the economy is rebounding, little...
