I think you schedule social media the way you do email or face to face networking.  I think it becomes a distraction if you keep it open all day. 

I typically get on Twitter ( that is my main SM) first thing in the morning, before I leave the house.  Check in with folks who are also always on at the same time. 

Then, if I am out somewhere, and have time to kill waiting for a meeting, I might check in brifely.  I usually spend some additional time at the end of the day.  But those Twitter conversatoins are just for fun - the equivelent of chatting on the phone with a friend.</description>

Another good idea is to break big tasks into smaller pieces and put the smaller pieces on your list...often that helps you get past the hurdle of accomplishing a big task.
