Logo From Sketch Pad to 3 – D
I recently finished a logo design for a new restaurant called Chef JJ’s Back Yard. It was fun working on this logo because Chef JJ has been a long time client of Roundpeg’s. As their business has evolved, from personal chef to full-fledged restaurant, so have their logo designs, all of which were created by Roundpeg. The new logo includes s his some of the elements from earlier versions, but has a distinct, more modern feel and edgy font choice. This version was designed, knowing a 3 – D version would eventually be created for the building signage. After the design was...

As an advocate of the Indianapolis Small Business Community, I am often frustrated when I see our city and state government spending money to support the large business community and ignoring this vital segment. Most recently I read about Indianapolis investing in training companies how to do business with firms in Taiwan and increasing economic development activity focused on bringing more, bigger companies to Indy. About a month ago, my good friend Doug Karr, creator of the Marketing Technology Blog invited me to become part of the team, and write the occasional blog post as a member of his community. I was excited, and flattered, but challenged as well. Now in addition to writing almost every day for Roundpeg ( I do enjoy when a member of my team writes a post, and gives me a day off) I have to develop relevant content for his audience too. Sometimes it is tough, because the same story will be a fit for my audience of small business owners, and his tech community, so who gets the post? How do you...

I bookmarked this post by Seth Godin about the differences between PR and Publicity. In it he says: Most PR firms do publicity, not PR. - Publicity is the act of getting ink. Publicity is getting unpaid media to pay attention, write you up, point to you, run a picture, make a commotion. Sometimes publicity is helpful, and good publicity is always good for your ego. But it’s not PR. PR is the strategic crafting of your story. It’s the focused examination of your interactions and tactics and products and pricing that, when combined, determine what and how people talk about you. I...

Written by Melinda Cooper I am going to my first real networking event in the morning and I have to admit… I am a little nervous. I’m a social girl and I can social network on Facebook and Twitter all day long, but can I network face-to-face? It’s not like I can go around the room and click on people and anonymously (for the most part) select ‘add as friend.’ So here I am searching on our *new* site up a storm under the ‘Networking’ category taking notes from Lorraine’s blogs (since she’s a self-proclaimed networking junkie). Trying to...
