I agree about soliciting local businesses as much as possible.  I try and go to ACE Hardware when possible.  Even though some of the products are a little pricier, they are closer to where I live and what extra I spend is made up in gas savings.  

Another similar issue is people going to the local vendor to look at a product and then buying it online.  Dennis Prager (http://www.dennisprager.com/) considers it a moral issue.  The local vendor pays a lot more to have the storefront and stock displays and merchandise than Amazon does to build storage warehouses.  Of course I&#039;m a strong supporter of online shopping, but if we are making an effort to shop local, we should consider limiting our online purchases too.
