One Small Step for a Client, One Giant Leap for a Web Developer

You know what they say, sometimes you have to crawl before you can walk – or something cliché like that. Regardless of how you say it, the opportunity to design a micro site for Nolan Securities and Investigations (NSI) gave me a chance to test the waters of web design without the challenges associated with putting together an entirely new site. NSI, the area’s largest, most-trusted event security provider, is gearing up for a hiring surge as they recruit candidates for large upcoming sports events.   A scaled down version of  their primary site, it is only three pages, built...

Is Your Website Ready for Company

I often say that networking for business on Facebook and Twitter is like going to a singles bar.  Lots of people to talk with, some duds and some great conversations.  If you find someone really interesting, sooner or later you want to invite them home. Faces of Roundpeg: Shelli, My First Employee

When I left Conseco I was tired. I hadn’t slept well for several months. The company was sliding into bankruptcy, and many of the people I had recruited and hired were losing their jobs. It wasn’t my fault, but that didn’t make it any easier. I decided I didn’t want to be responsible for anyone else so I built a business I could run on my own. New Days and Ways

Every day brings something new to celebrate. Today I found out that yellow mustard relieves mild burns. Yesterday I made a perfect cup of coffee! And just a few days ago, Roundpeg hired me as a production artist. This means that I’ll work mainly with our Creative Director Jenna on graphic design projects. My favorite thing about working with digital art is the ability to quickly make numerous variations of the same graphic. If I want to see a logo in 10 different color styles, it takes just a few clicks. In addition, since demand for our web services is increasing, I’m learning the ins...

That’s a Wrap! Week Ending October 21

This week we experienced a Roundpeg first, as client Karl Volkmar of UHAS Inc, stopped by with flowers.    The reason for his lovely gift?  We were able to solve the challenge of moving his web site to a new server.   It helped that we had built the site in WordPress to begin with and were happy to help. The flowers were just a nice touch. What else have we been up to this week?  Check out our recent posts and see: Saturday – Faces of Roundpeg: My Brother Jason Words of wisdom from Lorraine’s big brother. Sunday – Not Everyone Can Play Baseball If the...
