As the year is winding down and we are all starting to think about next year’s goals, I thought it would be interesting to share some ideas on goal setting and success. Over the next few weeks, I am going to use the Saturday morning blog post to share tips and ideas on how to do a better job of setting and accomplishing your goads. Many of my conversation starters are videos from TED.com. Some share conventional wisdom while others, like this one, clearly fly in the face of we often hear.

In this video, Derek Sivers makes the argument, that if you really want to accomplish your goal, don’t share it with others. The social acknowledgement you get from others is so rewarding that you are less likely to actually do the work to accomplish your goals. The video is only three minutes. Watch it and tell me what you think. Will you keep your goals to yourself after this?
