Your Marketing Cheerleader, Your Marketing Drill Sergeant

Your Marketing Cheerleader, Your Marketing Drill Sergeant

Knowing about marketing is a requisite for my job. Writing and social media skills are important, too. But probably the most important skill (and the one I struggle with on a daily basis) is the human aspect. All the marketing know-how or writing prowess don’t amount to a hill of beans if I can’t convince the client that this is the right course of action. If the client doesn’t believe me or just flat out doesn’t like me, everything else is irrelevant. So being a good account executive also means being a good judge of...

A Friendly Hello

Hello to everyone! My name is Whitney Brown and I am very excited to be the newest member of the Roundpeg team. I am a current full-time student at Ivy Tech Community College studying Business Administration with the hopes and ambition to one day own my own business. I am a very task-driven individual who likes to stay busy with multiple projects at the same time. I’m thrilled to join the team as account coordinator and this job is perfect for me. First and foremost, I believe in the power of relationships. Building relationships is key...

Free Business Plan Tools

Posted by on Mar 19, 2012 in Strategy | 0 comments

Many people will argue the pros and cons of taking the time to write a comprehensive business plan for your new startup. Some will say you have to have all the “i’s” dotted and all the “t’s” crossed, and others will tell you to get started and figure it out as you go. When I started Roundpeg, I actually wrote a complete plan, and have updated it almost every year. It has been helpful to take time to review where we are, how we got here, and what we need to do to get to our next step. I have also found that...

Color Swap

Color Swap

A few weeks ago we had a bit of fun with some popular logos.  We  switched the fonts to see how it would impact the way we felt about a brand.  The results were pretty interesting, and in some cases, very funny.  I was surprised by just how wrong the companies logo design looked without their signature fonts. It definitely showed just how much font choice affects the way a brand is perceived. The typeface you choose to represent your brand isn’t the only important thing to consider. Just as much, if not more time should be spent...

Website Therapy for Michigan AMTA

Website Therapy for Michigan AMTA

It’s one thing to have a website that let’s you log in and add new content. It is another to have a website that updates the content the way you intend it to. The Michigan chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association (MI-AMTA) has been running on WordPress for years. However, their previous website was a beast. Unpredictable widgets displayed irrelevant content and cluttered their homepage while the real news stories slipped off the front page days after being posted. This had to change. We refined MI-AMTA’s system for...

The New Lorraine Ball

The New Lorraine Ball

There is a new Lorraine Ball.  Ok, so there is not really a new Lorraine Ball, but there is a new lorraineball.com. I’ve owned the domain for years and it’s had several different forms in that time. It started out as a blog about the local business community. It was also a  place where I wrote about things that interested me.  At that time, there was no blog on the Roundpeg website. When we moved to the WordPress platform, it was natural to move my business content there. As I got comfortable with my voice, I added what...

That’s A Wrap, Week Ending March 16

Ten years ago, Lorraine quit her day job to see if she could turn Roundpeg into more then an idea.  This week we celebrated our 10th anniversary with many of the friends we have made along the way. But even though we took time out to be nostalgic, and to look forward to what will come next, we still had time to share a few blog posts.  Here is a link to some of what you have missed if you haven’t had a chance to drop by this week. Saturday – Want What Your Blog Needs Can you identify your company’s needs versus...

Guest Posts: How To Grow Your Blog by Writing Elsewhere

We have worked really hard over the last few years to build the Roundpeg community. We have created a blog we feel is engaging and varied. It has a loyal following of regular readers who are interested enough to contribute to the conversation and share the links. And we have been happy with the growth of the community. But the truth its, this is a relatively small blog. There is only so much we can do by sharing links on Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin before is starts to feel like we are standing on a corner shouting “Come Read Our...

10 Years Ago Today…

10 Years Ago Today…

I had the hardest time writing this blog post because, you see, today is our 10-year anniversary.  I guess I felt this post needed to be profound and inspirational, funny, sentimental and sweet. After ten years, it probably should sum up everything we were, everything we’ve accomplished and everything we hope to be in 250 words or less. It would be nice if I could also thank every single person who has been a part of our success.  The pressure to create the perfect post was paralyzing and so the blank page loomed bigger and...
