Ignore This Blog Post

We dispense a lot of advice here on the Roundpeg blog. We tell you about best practices in web design, graphic design, social media and marketing. We call some strategies and tactics stupid–sometimes in so many words. We do our best to offer advice that fits a wide variety of businesses and applies to many different circumstances. We try to show some nuance and shades of gray, but at the end of the day, your business is different from anyone else’s. And what worked for another  business, even one in your industry, may not work for you. And what was successful for you may lead to...

Introducing Truman

The little white house had been too quiet with only one set of feline paws treading the floor. Though Clyde had happily adjusted to being the only “child” at Roundpeg once again, the rest of us were missing another furry presence. We always suspected we’d get another cat after we lost Maybee, but on Monday, it all came to a head with an impromptu visit to the Humane Society of Indianapolis. There were so many beautiful cats in need of homes, and we fell in love again and again. The big gray adolescent who took an immediate shine to Jenna. The affectionate tabby who crawled...

The Extra Day

When I was a kid, I thought there was something magical about February 29th. I had a friend who was born on February 29th, and she only had a birthday every four years. I wondered if she would live longer or age slower then the rest of us. As I grew up, I never lost the fascination with Leap Year. I loved the idea that you had an  ”extra day,” that you could use it to accomplish something more, something special or something great.  So this morning as I woke up, I wondered what could I do with this day? What could I do to make the special? What could I do that would really...

Small Business Owner Looking for Love

No, this is not a personal ad. I am happily married and not looking for personal companionship. What I am looking for is that next great business relationship. I am looking for that right person to join the Rounpdeg team, and so far I am not having a lot of success. I have read countless resumes and talked to lots of people and there is just no spark. I refuse to believe it is because they aren’t out there, becuase I have fallen in love before. The people who work on the Roundpeg team today, I love.  And I knew it within a few short minutes of meeting them. So what’s missing?...

Goodbye, Maybee

This post has nothing to do with marketing or small businesses. Please come back tomorrow and we’ll have more of that information. This post is about eulogizing a tiny, smelly, loving little critter who wormed her way into our hearts and left us much too soon. We first saw Maybee on a visit to a prospective client, a local veterinary office. As they showed us around their examination rooms and surgery suite, we couldn’t help but notice the small cat with beautiful reddish-brown fur and huge green eyes. The tour ground to a screeching halt as the entire team stopped to coo at...
